Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
As some of you may know I landed in hospital earlier this year with (very, very) high blood pressure. It was pretty scary but the care I recieved in Raigmore was superb and I want to give somethng back.
As a result of my condition I had to make some significant lifestyle changes including getting more active so I decided to take up the Heartbeat Challenge to raise funds for much needed heart scanning kit. A similar scanner was used on me and it was a great comfort that the doctors could confirm quickly and accurately that my heart was healthy.
Any amount you can give is appreciated.
Making a donation through CharityGiving is simple. charitygiving.co.uk is operated by The Dove Trust, a charity with over 27 years' experience of helping individuals, charities and good causes globally, so your giving is safe and secure.
CharityGiving will reclaim gift aid tax on your donation (if you are a UK taxpayer), meaning any donation is worth around 25% more. They also charge less than most other fundraising websites, so more money goes to this great cause!
Derek is raising money for Highland Heartbeat Association:
Heartbeat is a charity which promotes coronary health in the Highlands and Islands and assists those treating cardiac and cardiovascular diseases. The next fundraising target is to purchase a mobile echo machine. This is about the size of a laptop and therefore exceedingly portable. This machine would facilitate echos in high dependency areas and the community too and allows the technology to be taken to the patient - benefiting the whole of the Highlands, not just Inverness. This machine costs in the region of £45k and funds raised from the 2008 and 2009 Challenges mean that we are over 1/3 of the way to achieving our target.
